This Baga statue is known as a Nimba or D’mba. It was carved in the style of a Baga shoulder mask, though this one was meant for decorative purposes, not use. The statue measures 34.5 inches tall and weighs 22 pounds. The ears are chipped and there is some cracking, scuffing and general wear and tear throughout – please inspect photos.

D’mba figures will usually come in a male and female pairing. These figures would be placed in a shrine to ensure agricultural and human fertility where offerings would be made.
