Not much is known about the Jonga people and less than 10 authentic figures are known to exist. This statue was inspired by the Jonga and was decorated with a beautiful beaded necklace. The statue measures 21 inches tall and weighs 8 pounds. There is some cracking, scuffing and wear and tear throughout but the piece is sturdy – please inspect photos.

About the Jonga People
"The 15,000 Jonga people settled south of the Mbole (DRC) in a forest. They farm and hunt. There is little information about their artistic output. Jonga carvings were produced from a light wood and tend to be covered in red and black pigments and it is thought they represent ancestors and were employed during healing ceremonies."Source:
