This statue was carved in the style of the Vuvi people of Gabon. The statue features a female figure with diamond shaped scarification down her torso. She measures 24 inches tall, 26.5 inches including base, and weighs 6 pounds. Her hands have broken off and her feet are chipped. There are imperfections and wear and tear throughout – please inspect photos.

About the Vuvi People
“The Vuvi live near the Mitsogho and carved masks which were stylistically influenced by their neighbours. They are flat, covered with white pigments, display a triangular chin, and are often more elongated than those of the Mitsogho, but like the Mitsogho, they were worn during funeral ceremonies.
The Vuvi cast metal bells with cephalomorphic handles, while their carvers decorated the Ebanza cult house with doors and posts. They were covered with white pigments, leaving the raised geometric and figurative motifs plain.”
