Tribe Information

About the Oron People

Living on the western side of the Cross River, the Oron people carved monoxylous ancestor figures. These sculptures, known as Ekpu, have a typical coiffure and scarifications, and are kept in the village meeting room and used as mnemonic objects to commemorate tribal history.
