This mask was carved in the style of the Lega people of DRC. The mask features a two toned face with small carved eyes and mouth. It measures 11.5 inches tall, 14 inches with its hanging raffia and weighs a pound. There is some damage to the back rim of the mask, scrapes, scuffs and imperfections throughout – please inspect photos. Stand is not included.

About the Lega People
Lega art is exclusively focused on and associated with the Bwami society. Each object has a precise role and function within their ceremonies and rituals and is used only by the initiated. These artefacts are numerous and are created from a variety of materials, particularly wood, ivory, bone and elephant hide.
